Message from the Principal

Greetings and welcome to Columbus North High School, home of the Bull Dogs. My name is Dr. Dominick Stella and I am proud to be the principal at CNHS.

Since first opening our doors in 1973, Columbus North High School, formerly known as Columbus Senior High School in 1956, has been a proud member of the BCSC family. As one of three high schools in the district, our team prides itself in establishing a culture where each Bull Dog models “The Three R’s”, exemplifying: respect, responsibility, and relationships.

Columbus North High School is home to a beautiful facility where divergent learning experiences, for diverse learners, are embraced and supported through family engagement, connections to the real world, cutting-edge resources, and a team of professionals that put kids first.
In 2026, we celebrate a history of 256 National Merit Scholars, 40 IHSAA Team State Championships (4th out of 412 IHSAA member high schools), 39 varying first-spoken languages by students, and a current ontrack graduation rate of over 98%. Demonstrating that our Bull Dogs excel on campus and beyond.

Speaking of our campus, did you know that we have award winning band, choir, and orchestra programs or that we offer robust Advanced Course Placement offerings, where Bull Dogs get a head start on earning college credit? Or, how about our partnership with C4, offering technical education programs in Agri-sciences, Construction Technology, Engineering Manufacturing and much so much more?

All of this is supported through a Cohort Model, a system where each grade level has a dedicated team of an Assistant Principal, a Guidance Counselor, and two Academic Coaches. This allows us to stay in touch, support, and grow with each Bull Dog and their family as we venture towards the finish line of a fruitful K-12 experience.

We believe in:

  • Accessible Learning: A safe learning environment that makes information readily available and easy to digest for all learners.
  • Fostering Curiosity: An eagerness to encounter what is new or unfamiliar and the desire to learn from these experiences.
  • Inclusive Community: Providing dozens of opportunities to participate in curriculum, athletics, and clubs so that every Bull Dog has a place to fit in, make friends, and belong to a team.

At Columbus North, we encourage every student to imagine boldly, discover deeply, and grow continuously; we greatly appreciate your partnership in doing so, together.

Sincerely,

Dr. Dominick Stella
Proud Principal of THE Columbus North High School
